PORTLAND, Maine – A Belfast woman has been arrested in connection with an alleged hit-and-run accident in Lincolnville.

The Waldo County Sheriff’s Office received a report around 9 a.m. Wednesday of an alleged hit-and-run with a cyclist on the Atlantic Highway on South Cobbtown Road, a news release from the sheriff’s office said. .

At the scene of the incident, deputies recovered a passenger side mirror belonging to what they believed to be a dark green Ford Explorer, specifically manufactured between 2016 and 2019. They believed the side mirror left at the scene belonged to the vehicle involved in the incident. the incident and asked the public for help in identifying the vehicle, the NEWS CENTER Maine reported Wednesday.

After an investigation lasting several days, the police arrested the individual they believed to be driving at the time of the accident.

Tiffany Hart, 33, from Belfast, was arrested on Friday for leaving the scene of a personal injury accident.

The cyclist, a 35-year-old woman from Northport, was taken to Waldo County General Hospital for treatment for injuries that are not considered life-threatening, according to the press release, and she has since been released from the hospital.
